Hello, my name is Mark Kasel
I am a Candidate for Forest Lake Area School Board ISD 831
Who am I?
I moved into the Forest Lake Area School District in 1997 and I've been a proud member ever since. I raised my family here. My son and daughter graduated from Forest Lake High School in 2014 and 2017. I was a chaperone for various field trips and youth nights. I participated in boys and girls scouting and coaching boys and girls sports. I encourage my children in their musical and artistic endeavors.

Why am I running?
I am passionate about securing the future of our community by investing in the education of our children. If I am elected to the School Board my goals are to:
- Improve the education of students.
- Honor the concerns of parents.
- Encourage the abilities, strengths and aptitudes of teachers.
- Promote a lean and efficient administration.
- Foster academic excellence and individual achievement.
- Improve learning abilities of students at their individual level.
- Have transparency to and cooperation with parents.

What about Parents?
Parents are the rightful guardians and decision makers for their minor children. Public Schools assist parents in the education process. It is of the highest importance that parents take responsibility for their children's education, communicating and cooperating with teachers, especially when it is evident a child is having learning difficulties or a child is having issues with discipline.
What about Teachers?
Teachers are the professional educators who's knowledge, skill and experience in educating the students maximizes the effectiveness of the learning experience. They are the Captains of their classrooms, seeing which students are on track, excelling, falling behind, paying attention, disengaged or being disorderly. They are charged with ensuring the classroom environment is conducive to the educational process and ensuring the students are understanding the class subject matter. Their communication with parents is vital for the cooperative effort to educate the students and maintain order, civility and positive attitudes.
What about Transparency and Accountability?
In a Free Society, transparency is the foundation of trust between the people and the institutions which the people are funding. Everything related to Public Schools is subject to examination by the people, especially the parents of the students. Public Schools are accountable for what, where and why funds are allocated.
What about the future?
To Develop the next generation into healthy members of society we need to create a learning environment that prepares students for what comes next, teaching them real world skills for their personal and professional lives. Promoting Post Secondary options such as Trade School programs, 2 and 4 year College, Military, Entrepreneurship and entering the workforce at large presents Students with a plethora of opportunities.
